Enjoy Barbara Torke's Whimsical Paintings
Barbara Torke studied art at University of Northern Colorado. She graduated with Bachelor and Master Degrees in Art and Education. She raised four children, and taught in public schools and privately for thirty years in the Denver area, showing her work and selling when possible.
In 1995 Barb moved to Ouray from Lakewood, Colorado, to be in the mountains and paint. Moving to Delta and then Cedaredge, she was instrumental in opening the Cedars Edge Gallery, LLC co-op in the Apple Shed complex. She still shows her work at the Apple Shed Gallery, at the Creamery in Hotchkiss, Gunnison Gallery in Gunnison as well as other venues. Barbara lives, paints and teaches at her studio on Cedar Mesa outside of Cedaredge. She has won numerous awards in pastel and watercolor shows. She also paints in oil and does collage. Her favorite subject matter is whimsical, plein-aire and animals. She is fond of painting commissions of pets and their families.
